Humble Pie's "Rock On" 1971 LP upmixed to 5.1 DTS using the SPEC method and tools available on surroundbyus.com. This upmix can only be played on PCs and HT/audio systems capable of decoding and playing DTS files. You can also play this with Foobar 2000 (with the DTS dll installed) or burn it to a CD using the cue file.

This was sourced from a recent Japanese mini-LP reissue and sounds great. "Rock On" is the album Humble Pie was touring to support during the Fillmore shows. The band was still Steve Marriott, Peter Frampton, Greg Ridley and Jerry Shirley.

I mixed this to have a quadraphonic feel (don't worry, the center and sub channels are there) to give the listener the perspective of being in the studio with the band. 70's albums lend themselves well to this type of upmix. I also included a couple of songs from their December 1969 Whiskey A-Go-Go sets - covers of the Yardbirds' "For Your Love" and Johnny Kidd & The Pirates' "Shakin' All Over". This is best enjoyed on a system with matched front and rear speakers.

From All Music Guide: On this, their second album for A&M, Humble Pie proved that they were not the "minor league Rolling Stones" as people often described them. Led by the soulful Steve Marriot, the Pie was a great band in every sense of the word. Although Peter Frampton elevated himself to superstar status in just a few years, this album proves what an excellent lead guitarist he was. The record has an undeniable live feel to it, due in part to Glyn Johns' humble yet precise recording, framing the group as if they were a boogie version of the Band. When all of these elements come together on songs such as "Sour Grain" and "Stone Cold Fever," it's an unbeatable combination.
