if you have been using the hosts file to block a program's server
addresses, you can remove them from the hosts file and block the
program with this firewall program script. it is very effective. you
will be able to visit the program website with your internet browser,
but the blocked program will not make it through the firewall until you
remove it from windows firewall, such as when checking for recent
updates.

Application

run 'firewall program context menu' vbscript to install or uninstall
right click context menu network management for executable files through
windows firewall rules. it is necessary to run the vbs installer as an
administrator, the 'add bat and vbs runasadmin' registry file will merge
runasadmin settings for batch and vbscript files. you will be able to
right click any executable file and choose the context menu option
firewall program block or allow to manage the program's access to the
internet. allow will delete the program from windows firewall and
advanced security, block will add the program for all profiles, for any
protocol, for any ip address, and for any port.

the vbs installer will write 'firewall program allow.bat' and 'firewall
program block.bat' files to the 'c:windows' folder, those files will
write two more files to the windows '%temp%' folder when they are used:
'firewall program allow.vbs' and 'firewall program block.vbs'. those
temporary folder vbscript files finally write 'firewall allow
program.bat' and 'firewall block program.bat' and run the batch scripts
through their context menu option 'Run as administrator'. the final
temporary folder batch scripts use 'netsh advfirewall firewall add' or
'netsh advfirewall firewall delete' to apply firewall rules for the
selected program.
