Check Q1000 Modem Speed (Size: 1.62 MB)
Descriptionthese scripts are written for the Qwest/Actiontec Q1000 Wireless-N VDSL Modem Router. they access the modem main page at http://192.168.0.1/main.html. the 'create check modem speed files' batch file will create three files: check modem speed.vbs, modem script.bat, and reboot modem.vbs. the created scripts create two more files: mainhtml.txt and stream.log. the three created script files will check the Q1000 stream rate, display downstream and upstream in a console window for five seconds, and save the info with time and date to 'stream.log'. if the speed is less than 600kbps, the batch file will reboot the modem with the 'reboot modem' vbs file. if google chrome is installed, the scripts will use chrome, otherwise internet explorer will be used to access the main modem page. the vbs and bat files can be easily edited to adjust the check rate kbps and, if necessary, to alter the vbs sendkey timings. you may want to open the main page and see how long it takes to load, the script is set up for three seconds. other browsers can also be incorporated into the script, which will probably necessitate changing the 'reboot modem.vbs' file to accomodate any differences in how the keyboard accesses the web page components. this will work fine with windows 7 task scheduler, i've set my computer to run 'check modem speed' at 11:00pm, and every 6 hours for a duration of 18hours. notepad++ is a useful editor in that it will display the line numbers in the script files and highlight syntax.
