Ziggy Marley And The Melody Makers Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers Ziggy Marley at the Austin City Limits music festival 2007 Wikipedia: Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers was a Jamaican Reggae family group whose line-up consisted of the children of musicians Bob Marley and Rita Marley, which includes lead singer Ziggy Marley with Sharon Marley, Cedella Marley, and Stephen Marley. Formed in 1979 in Brooklyn, New York, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers members began their musical endeavors in their pre-teens under the name The Melody Makers. Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers was launched into mainstream recognition following the release of their best-selling fourth album, Conscious Party, which contained the hit single "Tomorrow People" and the number-one single "Tumblin' Down". Their fifth album, One Bright Day, which contains themes of optimism and self-empowerment, was released in 1989. In 2000, they toured worldwide for the release of their live DVD, Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers Live (2001). In 1996 they sang the theme song for the animated children's TV series Arthur. Live Vol. 1 Release Date November 7, 2000 Duration: 01:12:21 Genre: Reggae Styles: Contemporary Reggae, Reggae-Pop Recording Date: 1995 - 1997 Label: Elektra AllMusic Review by Stacia Proefrock This recording, the first live album to feature Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, shows the Marley family-based group continuing on the same path cut by legendary father Bob Marley. The strongest performances on the album may not be from Ziggy, but rather the powerful backup vocals provided by his sisters. The manic pace of the performance seems to undermine the relaxed vibe that reggae is known for, but Ziggy's talented songwriting and performance skills still shine through. Fans will find a number of classic songs that span Ziggy's career, as well as a nice performance of the Bob Marley classic "Could You Be Loved." 1 Power to Move Ya 6:02 2 Conscious Party 5:10 3 Beautiful Day 4:44 4 Jah Bless 4:58 5 One Good Spliff 4:35 6 Free Like We Want 2 B 5:49 7 Jammin' 5:36 8 Postman 5:26 9 Stir It Up 4:29 10 Higher Vibration 6:49 11 People Get Ready 4:57 12 Could You Be Loved 5:36 13 I Know You Don't Care About Me 5:46 ENJOY!
