On September 24th, 2003 Yo-Yo Ma gathered the group of musicians that had recorded “Obrigado Brazil” in the studio for an electrifying live show in New York at Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall - which is the basis for “Obrigado Brazil - Live in Concert”, released in 2004. Reaching beyond the original repertoire, Yo-Yo Ma opens with a rousing "Libertango" (the first of several Argentine tangos by Astor Piazzolla) and works with Paquito D'Rivera on some Latin-flavored originals. Among a program of extraordinary depth are several familiar tunes by Antonio Carlos Jobim - including the swaying "Chega de Saudade" (featuring the graceful vocals of Rosa Passos) - and, of course, an irresistible "Aguas de Marco" (Waters of March).
