Epoca Sengoku. Una ragazza e la suocera vengono violentate e uccise da alcuni soldati mercenari. Poco tempo dopo i brutali omicidi che vedono coinvoliti i samurai di ritorno dalla guerra sconvolgono la zona. Il marito della ragazza, anch'egli samurai, ritorna al villaggio e subito gli viene affidata una missione: scoprire ed eliminare la causa di quelle morti misteriose...





Set in feudal Japan, this atmospheric and violent ghost story (whose title literally translates as The Black Cat in the Bush) begins with the brutal murder of two women by a band of mercenary samurai, whose leader is subsequently tracked down, seduced, and murdered by a young woman possessed by the shape-shifting specter of his victim. Called upon to avenge the warrior's death is none other than the woman's former husband...

Regia superba, recitazione sopra la media e sceneggiatura eccelsa per una classica, e al tempo stesso particolare, ghost story di stampo orientale.
