When I first encountered these remarkable works from the Swedish composer Wilhelm Stenhammar through radio broadcasts during the mid-1980s, they opened up an entirely new musical constellation for me (the set initially appeared in 1983).



I'm not aware of how well these works are generally known (or continue to be known) at this date. But if you're a chamber music lover - with regard to the string quartet literature in particular - and don't yet know these works ... these excellent recordings are highly recommended.
