From the notes:

"It surely is unfair to toss aside this portion [the piano music] of Weber's artistic output as Oscar Bie did in "Das Klavier". In a translation and revision by Kellett and Naylor entitled "A History of the Pianoforte and Pianoforte Players" (1899), it is stated: '... his (Weber's) piano music belongs to the technically rich but spiritually empty style of the time. If he did not live as operatic composer and orchestral poet, his piano compositions would be forgotten.' This last sentence of the quotation is significant, however. It is particularly as a dramatic composer and orchestral poet that the piano music of Weber SHOULD be viewed."
