Is there an update anywhere for the GoG version? Will this one work? Do any updates EVER work for other versions? Is that even possible?

It would be cool if you stopped spamming the same question over and over on various torrents of this game. Go to the game's forums and sort out your issues there. The GOG patch works fine and this torrent does include the patch. Both work as intended. The Devs have clearly stated that this game is still quite buggy and hope to have another update ready by the end of this week. Also, anyone with a 32 OS is said to have a severe instability issue at the moment. So sit tight and wait...

Works... But it has these moments of "Program Not Responding" A LOT! but eventually it clears up and you continue playing. But it is very annoying... Hope it can be fixed.
