Since you're using Ubuntu, you likely don't know how to check sigs.
First open a terminal and go to the correct directory to check a downloaded file:

 cd download_directory

In most Ubuntu cases, you would type:

cd /home/myusernamegoeshere/nameofthefolderwherethefileisgoeshere

Then run the following command from within the download directory.

 sha256sum virtualbox-4.3_4.3.2-90405~Ubuntu~raring_amd64.deb

sha256sum should then print out a single line after calculating the hash:

Note: Ubuntu/Debian users might want to install the dkms package to ensure that the VirtualBox host kernel modules (vboxdrv, vboxnetflt and vboxnetadp) are properly updated if the linux kernel version changes during the next apt-get upgrade. For Debian it is available in Lenny backports and in the normal repository for Squeeze and later. The dkms package can be installed through the Synaptic Package manager or through the following command:

sudo apt-get install dkms
