Despite a sensational reputation amongst splatter fans (including Stephen King, who provides a promotional blurb for the video release's packaging) the only gore occurs within the first 30 minutes, as a ski-masked maniac cuts a bloody swath through an apartment complex. Four attractive young women are dispatched in harrowing style with a variety of power tools, indicating a killer taking extreme sadistic pleasure in his work. It's no surprise when the apartment owner (Cameron Mitchell) is revealed to be the monster, but his claims of putting the "dirty" women out of their misery quickly doesn't jive with what's been presented earlier. He murders in order to avenge the unrelated car accident death of his only daughter, and to this end, kidnaps a virginal 15 year-old girl to replace her. Unfortunately, his nephew is also fixated on the dead girl, and has his own obsessions. Director Dennis Donnelly did most of his work in TV, thus the preponderance of familiar television faces on display: his brother Timothy Donnelly from Emergency!, Wesley Eure from Saturday morning's Land of the Lost, and Pamelyn Ferdin, a '70s sitcom perennial with many guest shots including The Brady Bunch and The Odd Couple. The incongruity of these appearances, along with the clumsily expressed psychosis of the villains, destroys any sense of dread created at the outset of The Toolbox Murders, and as a result, the only enjoyment that can be obtained from the film is ultimately derisive. ******** Unhinged ******** Movie Information Release year.........: 1982 Genre................: Horror/Mystery IMDb rating..........: 4.8/10 IMDB Link............: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0180274/ Language.............: English Subtitles............: None Duration.............: 1h 19mn Source...............: DVD-R copy original source unknown Format...............: MPEG-4 Format/Info..........: Base Media File size............: 399 MB Overall bit rate.....: 70 Kbps Writing application..: HandBrake 0.9.5 Unhinged is a 1982 low budget American slasher film directed by Don Gronquist. It was filmed on location at the Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. Because of violence and nudity, the film was banned in the UK until 2002. The film opens to three college girls, shy Terry, who cannot escape her overbearing mother, Nancy, the pretty wild girl, and Gloria, the quiet awkward blonde, all getting ready to leave for a jazz concert. After Terry unsuccessfully tells her mother about the trip, the trio of friends leave, driving through the pretty wilderness that surrounds their little town. A thunderstorm begins to appear, when Nancy, speeding down the road, runs over a log, plummeting the car into a steep ravine. Terry awakes to find her and her friends alive, but sheltered in an old mansion in the middle of nowhere, owned by the Penrose's, Marion and her mother, and their groundskeeper/doctor friend, Norman. Gloria is the only one with serious injuries, so Marion suggests that they spend the night until Gloria is able to leave with them. Terry and Nancy are then invited to dinner, with Marion and her old, crippled mother, who berates Marion at every chance she gets, calling her a slut and a whore. Mrs. Penrose then goes off on a tirade on how men are the worst things on earth, especially her ex-husband who cheated on her, and ruins dinner for everyone. The four then make their way to the living room and listen to Marion play the piano, while outside, a dirtied, grubby man appears, roaming around and looking menacingly into the windows. ******************** Visiting Hours AKA Get Well Soon/ Horror-Hospital/The Fright ********************* Movie Information Release year.........: 1982 Genre................: Horror/Thriller IMDb rating..........: 4.7/10 IMDB Link............: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083296/ Language.............: English Subtitles............: None Duration.............: 1h 45mn Source...............: DVD-R copy original source unknown Format...............: MPEG-4 Format/Info..........: Base Media File size............: 526 MB Overall bit rate.....: 700 Kbps Writing application..: HandBrake 0.9.5 Deborah Ballin (Grant), a feminist activist, inspires the wrath of misogynistic psychopath and serial killer Colt Hawker (Ironside) on a TV talk show.
