 The original 1933 German film Viktor und Viktoria is lame and depressing, perhaps because it was a contemporary film set in pre-World War II Europe. Fifty years later, the 1982 Hollywood remake is anything much more entertaining. Perhaps it's the nostalgia, perhaps it's the better film technology, perhaps it's the stars. Julie Andrews plays a woman pretending to be a gay man in a relationship with another gay man, played by Robert Preston; the two of them concoct a female impersonator act, with Victoria (Andrews) as the performer and Toddy (Preston) as "his" boyfriend and manager. James Garner stars as the American gangster who falls for the impersonator, Lesley Ann Warren his moll, Alex Karras his bodyguard, and John Rhys-Davies the owner of the nightclub featuring the act. There's lots of other talent in the movie, which is directed by Blake Edwards and features music by Henry Mancini. This is a really great film, and one of my all-time favorites. There are a lot of torrents for this movie on KAT, but most of them are years old and all of them appear to be dead, so here's one more, ripped from DVD using Handbrake. After you've downloaded the torrent, please seed at least until you've replaced the seed you used, and added one more, so the torrent stays alive for everyone else.
