Vedi (Tamil: α«╡α»ΓÇáα«┼╕α«┐; English: Firecracker) is an upcoming Tamil-language action film directed by Prabhu Deva featuring Vishal and Sameera Reddy in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the successful 2008 Telugu film Souryam, and it got released on 30th September 2011 with moderate reviews.The movie begins on an interesting note in a colorful manner with a peppy song featuring music composer Devi Sri Prasad.

Vedi has Vishal& Sameera Reddy in lead roles and the movie is directed by Prabhu Deva. In this movie, Vishal plays a cop role and Sameera plays the role of a fun-loving college girl Paaro. Sameera tries her hand at comedy for the first time in this film.

STORY:

The first half of the movie sees Prabhakaran (Vishal) being chased by henchmen. He escapes to Kolkata and seeks admission to a college. There he meets Deepa (Poonam Kaur) and asks her for a room to stay. She suggests he talk to her friend. In the meantime, Vijay runs into Paro(Sameera Reddy) and her gang of friends who rag all boys in college. However, Prabhakaran outwits them. Prabhakaran turns as an unofficial bodyguard for Deepa and here it is revealed that she his sister but could not not tell her the same for some reasons. They were separated when they were kids and as the film progress, the flashback is revealed that the mission Prabhakaran has to complete and he is on an undercover.

PERFORMANCE:

Vishal is at ease in his role ΓΓé¼ΓÇ¥ fighting with panache and dancing with elan. He seems to have come out of Avan Ivan mode. The expressions and his angry young manΓΓé¼Γäós portrayal sit well on him.

Model Sophie Chaudhary has also given guest appearance in the film.

Dusky beauty Sameera Reddy has given a graceful performance, as a bubbly girl in the college who teases the hero and as a sensitive girl at home. Her glamour is an additional asset to the film.

Poonam Kaur plays the pivotal role of Deepa in this film. She rendered apt delivery within the scope of her characterization.

Vivek displayed hilarious comedy in the college scenes and the rest of the characters performed well in their limit.

Music by Vijay Antony is the highlight. For a commercial film, he does all justice. The songs Icchu and Eppadi mazhai are impressive.

Though a remake of a Telugu hit (Sowriyam), the movie is entertaining and enjoyable, for there are smart changes in the script to suit Tamil audience. However, it ends up as a predictable clinched commercial masala.
