Barry Newman stars as Kowalski, a taciturn driver who bets his pusher (drug provider) that he can drive a new Dodge Challenger from Denver to San Francisco in 15 hours. He loads up on amphetamines and begins his odyssey through the contemporary west while a funky black DJ (Cleavon Little) turns the driver into a folk hero and broadcasts advice on dodging the cops. Kowalski's checkered life story is told through flashbacks as he drives west.

NOTE: This is the uncut version and is about 5 minutes longer than the IMDb listing. The scene with the hitch-hiker (Charlotte Rampling) at about the 1 hour 30 minute mark, was originaly cut but was included for this version.
