È giovane, bello e ricco, essendo l'erede di un impero editoriale. È abituato ad ottenere ciò che vuole, quando vuole. Finché un giorno incontra Sofia che identifica come la donna dei suoi sogni. Ma ha appena fatto in tempo a comprenderlo che la ragazza scompare. La vita di David non può più essere la stessa. Si metterà a cercarla in modo ossessivo correndo numerosi rischi. C'era una volta Apri gli occhi di Alejandro Amenabar, un piccolo film in equilibrio tra realtà e allucinazione. C'è ora questo film di un regista esperto come Cameron Crowe, ma inevitabilmente non europeo, nel senso che impernia tutta la vicenda su un Tom Cruise attore/produttore troppo impegnato a specchiarsi nella propria immagine per far partecipare il pubblico a quanto accade sullo schermo. Storyline David Aames takes all he has for granted; his wealth, his inherited publishing company, his good looks - his relationships. Especially his relationships. It catches up to him when a friend/sometimes sex-partner can't see their relationship the way he sees it.
