Breaks & Beats, an album that champions all the beats,
breaks and funky basslines you might expect from a country
that has given us such stunning music through the years. On
this album SLG dig that bit deeper with hard to find 45s,
obscure album cuts and previously unknown gems from
Brazil's funk history. The comp covers a range of styles,
from the dirty funk groove of "The Kings Bounce", an
ultra-rare 7" B-side with a killer break (there only a
handful of known copies in the world), to the extra-steamy
version of "Jungle Fever" direct from a Brazilian motel -
suitable for Latin lovers everywhere. On a deeper tip comes
"Tema De Zorra", a solid down-tempo groove with a
soundtrack feel. With over a dozen other rare tracks this
is an essential piece of funk history from south of the
equator.
