Trama :

Durante la guerra che condusse Cybertron alla distruzione e alla sconfitta degli Autobot, una nave aliena chiamata "Arca" riuscì a lasciare l'orbita del pianeta, ma fu attaccata dai Decepticon; ciò portò la nave a schiantarsi contro la Luna. Nel frattempo gli americani lanciarono il programma Apollo, e i due astronauti Aldrin e Armstrong trovarono i resti della nave degli Autobot, con all'interno giganteschi robot senza vita. La scena si sposta a Chernobyl dove il NEST trova un particolare dispositivo alieno che Optimus Prime identifica come "un pezzo dell'Arca". Nel bel mezzo della ricognizione vengono attaccati da Shockwave e il gigantesco robot tentacolare Driller. Optimus pretende spiegazioni sul segreto a loro celato: i russi presero il pezzo del motore della nave, lo studiarono e lo imbrigliarono a Chernobyl, ma quando tentarono di usarlo come materiale fissile, provocarono il famoso disastro del 1986. Optimus e Ratchet conducono una missione di recupero sul lato nascosto della Luna su cui trovano il corpo di Sentinel Prime (predecessore di Optimus), e 5 pilastri, invenzione dello stesso Sentinel. Intanto, Sam Witwicky ha rotto con Michaela e ha conosciuto Carly, durante una cerimonia privata con Barack Obama; i due convivono a Washington con qualche problema, soprattutto Wheelie e Brains, due piccoli Autobot. Carly lavora per Dylan Gould, ricco uomo d'affari. Intanto Megatron, Starscream, Scalpel e Igor si sono ritirati nel deserto, il leader Decepticon è indebolito, tuttavia è pronto ad affrontare di nuovo la guerra contro gli Autobot, anche se solo il fedele Soundwave conosce il suo piano. Sam, uscito indenne dall'attacco di Laserbeak, va dagli Autobot, ma la direttrice della Sicurezza Nazionale non gli consente a partecipare direttamente alle missioni. Optimus intanto sta usando la Matrice del comando per rianimare...
