Synopis:

Sherry Conley, a street tough and cynical woman with an unhappy family background, is taken from prison to a hotel, where the DA tries to convince her to testify against a mobster. Sherry is reluctant because the last witness was murdered before he made it to the stand, and why should she stick her neck out? At the hotel, several attempts are made on her life, and she falls for Vince, the policemen guarding her.

Nova York. Sherry Conley (Ginger Rogers), por ter sido muito mal assessorada por seu advogado e ter se envolvido com as pessoas erradas, foi condenada por um crime que não cometeu. O promotor Lloyd Hallett (Edward G. Robinson) lhe oferece redução da pena caso ela testemunhe contra o chefão do crime Benjamin Costain (Lorne Greene). Ela vai para a suíte de um luxuoso hotel e recebe uma grande proteção policial, mas mesmo assim está insegura se deve depor ou não, pois o poder de Costain é conhecido. Logo um assassino profissional invade o quarto onde Sherry está escondida.
