Tiessen - Salambo Suite - Celibidache, Berlin RSO (1957) [Philidor; FLAC] (Size: 48.42 MB)
Description
Heinz Tiessen fit easily within the German 1920s avant-garde, but grew more conservative and cautious in the 30's after having his music classified as "undesirable" by the Nazis. The Salambo "dance drama" of 1924 was in his earlier manner. He played it safe late in life, retiring completely to academia, where he taught composition and theory. Among his best known students was Celibidache.
