Haha, here's Lou and the band playing for the hippies outdoors at a festival in the same month Woodstock took place... Yes, it did happen. "Ostrich Hill" is the only known outdoor recording of the Velvets... It's a real juggernaut. Cale-less but still commited, they play a mind-blowing set for the very hippies they disdained, full of brutal controlled feedback, jagged leads, yodels on "Pale Blue Eyes", some heavy organ on "What Goes On", ruminations on "Heroin"... Definitely not flower power... Sister Ray/Murder Mystery is from another show, at La Cave (Jan 1969), and clocks in at nearly 30 minutes. Sound quality is excellent. I believe the lineage here is CD>>WAV>>FLAC, but am not certain. It is an excellent audience recording. Have fun! 1. I'm Waiting For the Man 2. Run Run Run 3. Pale Blue Eyes 4. What Goes On 5. Heroin 6. Sister Ray/Murder Mystery (La Cave Jan 69) Sharing Widget |
