SYNOPSIS: 1889. German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche witnessed the whipping of a horse while travelling in Turin, Italy. He tossed his arms around the horse's neck to protect it then collapsed to the ground. In less than one month, Nietzsche would be diagnosed with a serious mental illness that would make him bed-ridden and speechless for the next eleven years until his death. But whatever did happen to the horse? This film, which is Tarr's last, follows up this question in a fictionalized story of what occurred. The man who whipped the horse is a rural farmer who makes his living taking on carting jobs into the city with his horse-drawn cart. The horse is old and in very poor health, but does its best to obey its master's commands. The farmer and his daughter must come to the understanding that it will be unable to go on sustaining their livelihoods. The dying of the horse is the foundation of this tragic tale. Rottentomatoes: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_turin_horse/ Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Turin_Horse One of my favorite Tarr's movie! (source Greek edition DVD9 7.03 GB / x264 DVDRip 2.40GB, audio left untouched) As you can see from the snapshot there is some sort of decoding error in 2 parts. I ask a friend of mine who also bought the DVD and it has the same problem, so it is NOT a rip mistake by me, or only me copy bad. 01:33’:45’’ and 01:33’:46’’ Take a look the comments i made in cinematik DVD9 upload: Uploader Comments: This dvd was available in the quarterly (until 2009 it was monthly) Greek magazine "ΣΙΝΕΜΑ" (i.e."CINEMA") that was released in Greece today, 20 December 2011. This is going to be the only offcial greek dvd release of the film. This is NOT a Bootleg copy. December's issue also offers enclosed another Bela Tarr movie "Werckmeister Harmoniak" DVD9 (the same as the UK Artificial Eye edition, which has already been marketed in retail in Greece, many years ago.) The distributor of the "The turin horse" dvd is "New Star - Artplex Attica S.A." (I don't know why IMDB has only 3 movies, the same company had distributed the film in greek cinemas in April 2011). "New Star" http://www.artplex.gr/ are a cinephile distributor that sadly stopped their DVD releases over the last two years, limiting their activity to just theatrical distributions. "New Star" has also offered a few other unmarketed dvds in the past in exclusive collaboration with "CINEMA" magazine. This is my first upload to this GREAT cinematik community. In case anyone is keen on re-authoring this dvd to include english subs, they can grab them from this url: http://www.opensubtitles.org/el/subtitles/4435511/a-torinoi-lo-en I have corrected them and synchronized with this DVD. Having searched all over Google,I could not find any info regarding dvd release to another country.
