Description

The Race Add-On...

...Requires the original cap pack and...

...will allow encoding of each segment just after they have
aired opposed to the original pack which required waiting
until the middle segment finished. Doing each segment after
they air gives faster encode times as it is possible to run 2
or even 3 batch commands at once. Typically by the time the
last segment is airing all other parts are done or nearing
completion. With a powerful enough computer, the entire
episode can be finished just a few minutes after it aired.

...too bad I'm stuck with a shitty USB TV tuner. :P

Sort of. Scene probably has custom written programs that put what I use to shame. They also have to use .rar files - and I found out why - so they can upload while encoding! You can't upload an incomplete file, no, but if the encode gets archived (storage mode; no compression) as it progresses, those rar parts can be uploaded as they become ready. That would be how some scene groups with a beefy PC can have things encoded, packed, uploaded, and released like a minute after airtime.

I doubt anyone will come across this, but I have seen people complain about the rar files. Now that the reason why they are used is out there maybe less people will bitch. Hah. One can only hope.

I never minded RAR's - I didn't realise it was so they could upload while encoding, I only heard that it was so if the file transfer went bad while uploading to the topsite, rather than redoing a 100+mb file you only have to redo 50mb at max depending on each rar size. Plus my seedbox auto extracts, so no biggie at all. :)
