Excerpt:
Mongres were gruesome creatures and this one in particular was one of the biggest she had seen. His thick, slimy skin had a green tint to it as if it was rotten and when he stood tall, his head almost touched the canopy of trees above. Most of a mongre's body mass was concentrated in their bulging stomachs, which meant they were constantly eating. The veins protruding out of his burly, grotesque arms were pulsing as he ate a large deer carcass and the saliva dripping out of his mouth was enough to make even the strongest of stomachs squirm.

They were the most repulsive of beasts.

"Disgusting," Briana muttered under her breath. Their revolting appearance wasn't something one got used to.

She shifted her weight to creep an inch closer through the bushes toward him and her grip tightened on her blade. After evaluating her attack, she knew it would be most effective to slice straight across the back of his neck, which would mean an instant kill. Hopefully, he wouldn't be able to react fast enough. The mongre's movements were sluggish due to his ridiculous size. Briana had the advantage — she had her speed. The Hunters were the fastest of all the Eastern tribes. She couldn't say of all the tribes in the world. She knew none beyond the East.

Luckily the mongre was too busy feasting to hear her footsteps crunching on the forest floor below him. The leaves were quite a nuisance. Briana kept her focus on the mongre as she continued inching closer. Once the bush no longer concealed her, she made her move.

Leaping forward, Briana drew her sword from its sheath and jumped onto the mongre's back. Just as she began to slice at his neck, the mongre flung his hand backwards, as if he were swatting at a fly and yelped from the pain. His oversized, brutish hand hit Briana straight in the stomach and sent her flying backwards through the sky. She hit a nearby tree and fell to the ground, gasping for air on her hands and knees.
