Description
The Nights (Les Nuits) choreography by A. Preljocaj. Chaillot National Theater تابلوهات راقصة مدهشة تحكي بعض الليالي من ألف ليلة وليلة. متزامنة مع موسيقى وأغاني شرقية Consoles amazing dancer Tells some nights of One Thousand and One Nights. Synchronized with the music and oriental songs In 2010, Angelin Preljocaj made a promise with A thousand quiet years will follow. His Nights will be an invitation to experience one thousand and one fantasies, those suggested by the mesmerizing Sheherazade now viewed by the choreographer as the ultimate symbol of femininity against barbarism. From its Persian and Indian origins to its Arabian apex, The One and Thousand Nights has been a tremendous inspiration for the visual arts and cinema, and these nights are often brighter than our days. Dance has had a close relationship with its tales, as exemplified by the iconic film adaptation of Diaghilev’s Russian Ballets. Angelin Preljocaj now brings his own singular interpretation. The choreographer, who is partial to the great myths and legends – from Romeo and Juliet to Snow White – was naturally drawn to this adventure. “These tales have some very sensual aspects that I’d like to reengage with in the dance.” Preljocaj has shown a fondness for performers, whom he glorifies from piece to piece, from his early Liqueurs de chair to Suivront mille ans de calme recently. With this mythic text as storyline, Angelin Preljocaj will undoubtedly titillate our senses. “This show will probably involve focusing in on the mystery of a fantasized Orient where bodies turn into signs, like a calligraphy of affects and moods.” In this daydream, Preljocaj teams up with Constance Guisset who designed the beautiful paper cutout of Funambule and brings on board fashion designer Azzedine Alaïa, musician Natacha Atlas and her sidekick Amy Bishai. With all these benevolent partners, these Nights will surely turn into a choreographic tale in wonderland. " /> Sharing Widget |
