Description
I never know when to begin or end so here it goes. Every mix has a history and this is the story of this mix. Every DJ also has a history and here is some of mine.
DJing is an art form and I know all artists can appreciate that. Not everyone can appreciate it but at least respect it. It’s painting a picture with sounds and song. You have a blank canvass. Each song is a paint color on your palette. With the digital age upon us, you can now arrange each sound anywhere on your canvass with relative ease. I never gave digital mixing a chance because of the easiness with which you can beat match but here I am today. The playing field has been leveled and I know anyone can beat match but not everyone can “artistically story tell mix” and take party people on journeys. These young DJs don’t know what it means to touch vinyl and how hard it was to push off on a turntable and align songs that not always had perfect beats per minute and having to delicately use a finger nail to slow it down or speed it up a split hair. You had to know your records in and out. I started up with “belt drive” turntables (google it all you young DJs and know your roots) so later affording “direct drive” turntables was heaven. Mixing, scratching and back spinning became so much more fun and easier to do on direct drive turntables. I do appreciate the precise volume dropping in digital mixing I must say and holding longer precision mixes. I can say I’m a unique type of mixer and not the usually cut mixer you usually listen to. I’m a “blender mixer” and love party people to hear my mixes. In fact I demand you hear my mix. Hear it is. Listen up cause here it comes. I can’t always “long mix” but this particular mix I've done a fair share of it. I can only take what the song I’m mixing gives me. Mixing for me comes from a different side of the brain and I hope you party people appreciate it. I’m always trying to create a third song in the mix. The totality of the mix is creating a third song whether its 30 seconds or the entire song. The Tiesto Gelredome Concert into the Richard Durant The Fall remix is one of my favorite mixes and one of those sort of mixes that I thought would just blend well together and did. But I wish I had a better quality version of the concert because of the flatness of the recording and therefore the distance in which you hear this particular mix. If there is wave type quality recording of the concert please let me know or even individual wave tracks of the concert would be great and I can even mix them myself and then do over my mix of it into The Fall. This mix is my homage to DJs Tiesto/Sasha/Digweed. I tried to create a Northern Exposure type mix with an ambient type beginning and build up from there. I know this mix isn’t even near the layers that Northern Exposure is but I’m always in search of the perfect mix and NE is pretty damn close in my eyes, therefore my homage. I’m still growing as an artist and my mixing ability and storytelling is only getting better. I have very limited resources to good music so the length of my mixes is affected and I am VERY picky about songs that go into every mix. I download music from the internet and mix off of mixes or individual tracks with Acid Pro. If I don’t love a song and I feel I want to fast forward it, then it has no business being in the mix. That’s how selective I am. If anyone here can let me know there absolute favorite songs and where to download them, I’m sure I can create more mixes quickly. I especially love remixes as you will see in all my mixes. I especially love vocals and voices. Please let me know what songs build the serotonin in your brain and gets you going. Thanks. I think DJ Tiesto is the most balanced skilled mixer and story teller there is today and that is the reason he’s number 1 in my eyes and many others. He has excellent song selection in his mixes and has that perfect balance of energy in his music where you can either get up and dance or just listen. If anyone here knows Tiesto and can give him this mix I would appreciate it. After you listen to this mix, you’ll know why I want to give this mix to Tiesto. Thanks in advance to anyone who can. A dream of mine would be for Tiesto to incorporate the Gelredome/The Fall mix into one of his sets. If anyone can even give this mix to Sasha and John Digweed and even Richard Durant or any of the other artists on this mix , I would appreciate it also. I think including a song on any mix is an honor because you like the song that much that it’s worth presenting to the world in your vision. I can mix for hours and even write longer but I think I’ve said enough for now. I’ll explain more about the Never Ending Mixes as I post and release more of my mixes. Oh and by the way. Also being a former clubber and glow sticker I would love to see a glow stick routine done once you hear that first beep drop on the Richard Durant The Fall remix: starting and building at 29:54 but the insane glowing sticking really starting at 33:40. When I glowstick to The Fall, it brings me back to my clubbing and pilling days long missed and only in mixing can I bring that feeling back. I wish I could glowstick without a body. The freedom of letting my hands go without the limitations of hitting my body would be insane. The trails and patterns I would generate would be endless. I hope to show a “bodyless” glowstick routine in a dream sequence one day through the magic of movies with the CG today. I may never get the money or budget to do the insane type movies I would love to do. I’m a screenwriter also and the movies I write require millions and millions but I’m at least sending the message out there with these words to anyone who has the resources I do not have, to show it in a club dream type scene sequence a “bodyless” glowstick routine. This is to me is a pill mix and those of you that have and still pill will appreciate this mix that much more. Of course at the beginning, smoke to the ambient part of the mix but make sure your pill kicks in before The Fall. LOL Like you have control of that. DRUGS ARE LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU’RE GONNA GET! LOL No words truly ring more true. The love and energy is missed and will always be missed. I dare to compare the New York City pill, GHB, K, acid club nights of the mid 90s to the early 2000s to the San Francisco hippie acid days of the late 60s early 70s. Never got to smoke or shroom in a club for obvious reasons. Damn! LOL That’s how insane those nights into days were. Party people keep on partying hard but know your limits, and continue to dance like no one is watching no matter how old or young you are. Hug someone for me today, listen to music, and dance your ass off. In any order your want. PEACE AND LOVE ALWAYS!! DJ FLOW Sharing Widget |
