The Jam Difinitive Compilation

The Jam never really caught in America, but here in England, IMHO they were quite possibly the biggest and most popular band of the late 70's and early 80's and definitely the best 3 piece in English music. A trio made up of lead singer and guitarist Paul Weller, bassist and backing vocalist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler, the Jam emerged from the first wave of the British punk rock scene to achieve success by merging the power of the punk movement with the musical stylings of 60's mod groups like The Who, The Small Faces and most especially The Kinks from whom they got one of their biggest hits a cover of "David Watts". The Modfathers music changed towards the more R&B oriented style going more to his Stax/Motown/Northern Soul roots, as well as the more funked up sounds like Precious ~ ok he became a bit pretentious but music wise I think he grew in leaps and bounds. When the Jam split and he formed the Style Council he turned more towards the pop soul market but they will not be remebered with as much warmth and soul as The Jam.

This torrent is made up from all of The Jams albums and cd’s as well as some rare live recordings. I have tried to use the best copy of each track whether it be on a 7” an English CD or a Japaneese import. There maybe upto 3 recoredings of particular tracks but that’s my perogative and I have included them because the other versions are just so good ~ ok I could have added more but as a fan I have made it from the tracks I would like to see if I was going to buy a very best of compillation and not just putting out 9 different albums as some people would do which please believe me is a lot easier.
