The Hurt Locker is a serious character study and a taut, suspenseful action thriller all at once. Filmaker Kathryn Bigelow concocted a masterpiece of a film here without tricks or gimmicks. Although there are supporting appearances by Guy Pearce, David Morse and Ralph Fiennes, the lead character of Staff Sergeant William James is played ferociously by relative newcomer Jeremy Renner. Staff Sergeant James loves the rush of disarming bombs, even if it means putting his fellow soldiers at risk.



This is a gut-wrenching, pulse-pounding,tense, vivid, technically brilliant drama that puts you, the viewer. on the front line. Simply put, this movie is a kickass action flick that grabs you by the throat and does not let go until the end credits roll. It is a must see if you're into that kind of movie.
