Essentially a Christmas movie. "The Holly and the Ivy" is a 1952 English drama film with director George More O'Ferrall and produced by Anatole de Grunwald and music by Malcolm Arnold. It is about an English clergyman whose neglect of his grown offspring, in his zeal to tend to his parishioners, comes to the surface at a Christmas family gathering. It had its U.S Release in 1954. It has a top notch ensemble cast, and stars Ralph Richardson, Celia Johnson, Margaret Leighton, a young Denholm Elliot, and John Gregson. It was adapted from a play by Wynyard Browne . It features Margaret Halstan and Maureen Delaney repeating their roles from the stage. This is a good quality copy of a hard-to-find movie.
