The Forest - Play Co-op nonsteam "This is Co-op files only, not full game"

Here is a way to play The Forest co-op with some friends. This is a verfied way I tried myself, and saving works.

This way I found some time way back on some The Forest older build, and since I see many people frequently asking about how to make co-op work, I decided to share. If you want to thank, thank whoever did it. And that's not me. I just merely trying to share what I found online.


How to make it work:

1. Copy the downloaded folder contect to your game directory.

2. Edit the SmartSteamEmu file, the config file. It's the 12kb one. What you need to edit is those 2 lines:
Target = AoK HD.exe
#StartIn = C:Program Files (x86)SteamsteamappscommonAge of Empires II HD

-Target your .exe file, TheForest.exe, instead of AOK.
-Replace the directory with your game directory folder.

EXTRA: if you want to change your name, change that line:
PersonaName = AccountName

Change the AccountName to your deserved name.

3. Now run SmartSteamLoader file as administrator and here you go! CO-op will be working now. You and your friends will need to do these steps to play together. Saving works. You can use those files for any future The Forest build/update.
