Trama

Jason ( Michael Angarano) un giovane americano amante dei kung fu movie un bel giorno entra in possesso fortuitamente di una potentissima reliquia orientale appartenuta al leggendario Re scimmia, un bastone dotato di incredibili poteri e fonte di magia che trasporterà il ragazzo indietro nel tempo sino all’antica Cina.
Jason sperduto e disorientato troverà un aiuto nel maestro di arti marziali Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) una sorta di monaco immortale dalle sorprendenti capacità nel combattimento da ubriaco, a loro si unirà anche una bella e determinata guerriera in cerca di vendetta.
Scopo del viaggio intrapreso dal terzetto, oltre che addestrare nel più breve tempo possibile Jason, quello di riportare il bastone al legittimo proprietario. Lungo il viaggio al gruppo si unirà anche un misterioso monaco (Jet Li) che dopo qualche tentennamento, capito che Jason è il designato dall’antica profezia, lo supporterà nell’addestramento.
