TRAMA

I Mercenari sono tornati, e questa volta è una questione molto personale. Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren),Toll Road (Randy Couture) ed Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) - con i nuovi membri Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) e Maggie (Yu Nan) - si riuniscono quando Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) arruola I Mercenari per un lavoro apparentemente semplice. Il compito si presenta come uno stipendio facile per Barney e la sua banda di vecchia scuola. Ma quando le cose vanno male e uno di loro viene brutalmente ucciso, gli Expendables sono costretti a cercare vendetta in territorio ostile, dove tutto e tutti sono contro di loro.


RECENSIONE

Quando parti con un cast che vanta i nomi di Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Terry Crews e, logicamente, Sylvester Stallone, non puoi che aspettarti un film corale che metta gli attori al centro del tutto ancor prima che la storia. E difatti il canovaccio di questo "I mercenari 2" è giusto un pretesto per una grande rimpatriata di star del cinema d’azione del passato, con un paio di strizzatine d’occhio al pubblico più giovane grazie a Statham ed Hemsworth. Inutile cercare la malinconia di un Rambo dietro alle tante sparatorie, scazzottate ed inseguimenti per la "selvaggia" Albania, location principale del film, in "I mercenari 2" c’è solo la voglia di spingere forte sul pedale di quell’umorismo che caratterizzava le loro pellicole del passato per farne il filo portante di tutta la pellicola.
Ecco allora Schwarzenegger che scherza sul suo ritorno sul grande schermo, ecco Chuck Norris che fa il Chuck Norris delle tante battute che nell’ultimo biennio l’hanno visto diventare l'highlander virtuale dei più assurdi combattimenti, ecco Jean Claude Van Damme che spinge il coltello nel corpo di uno dei protagonisti attraverso un calcio volante dei suoi e così via. Stallone fa il solito leader un po’ tormentato, ma per fortuna del pubblico si tratta di una caratterizzazione che la sceneggiatura tocca appena, senza annoiare troppo. Rispetto al primo episodio "I mercenari", le sequenze action sono ancora più esagerate e ridanciane (e lo si capisce dal Coming Soon che appare sul blindato in una delle prime scene). Per il pubblico giovanissimo il film risulterà difficile da godere, così autoreferenziale e lontano dal cinema di oggi, ma per chi è nato negli anni ‘70 ed ‘80 e che è cresciuto con alcuni film e battute cult, sarà difficile non sorridere e provare un brivido di piacevole nostalgia durante la visione, la stessa di alcuni ritorni a casa dopo un lungo viaggio, quando guardando il vecchio divano si pensa che ci sia uno speciale rapporto tra lui e voi e ci si stende subito sopra.
E se da una parte Stallone abbandona la regia per lasciarla a Simon West, dall’altra Sly rimane produttore e co-sceneggiatore del tutto.
Ora che ha vinto la scommessa (in pochi credevano che il primo mercenari sarebbe stato un successo) non ha più bisogno di strafare...
