Description
THE DEVIL'S MUSIC by Alan Plater.
Jazz musician Megan the Fifth keeps playing a certain melody - but where does it come from? Her musical detective trail leads to the 1880s and to a choir of emancipated slaves. 1) Roll Jordan Roll An anthem for emancipated slaves? Or a comic song about pork pies? Megan seeks the meaning of an old tune. The trail leads back to the 1880s and the visit to Swansea of a choir of emancipated slaves. 2) The Great Pork Pie Mystery Megan's tuneful quest continues as her research into the pork pie melody takes her into family history. Perhaps the answer lies in the Kohinoor Tearoom, Swansea, in the 1920s? 3) Beacons Megan's journey comes full circle when her grandmother arranges a surprise. Three 45 minute episodes. Directed by Alison Hindell. First Broadcast in August 2001. My Recordings from BBC7 at 128kbps ABR joint-stereo LAME mp3. Recorded from Freeview -> DVD Recorder -> MP3.
