The Children of Dynmouth

William Trevor's own adaptation of his novel of the same name.

This is a beautifully filmed TV movie with characteristic direction by Peter Hammond and a haunting score by Paul Lewis. Fine performances all round, especially by the younger members of the cast.

The themes in this piece still resonate today, though the equation of homosexuality with paedophilia is apt to shock a modern audience.

The master tape of this production has been lost, so this is the best you'll get. The original disc was kindly given to me by Simon Fox, who starred as Timothy Gedge in this remarkable film.
