The Castle of Fair Welcome, Courtly Songs of the late-15th Cent - Gothic Voices (1985) [Philidor; FLAC] (Size: 216.9 MB)
Description"The Castle of Fair Welcome" was a Gothic Voices album depicting the music one might well hear in the castles of Charles the Bold, the last of the Valois Dukes of Burgundy. Courtly love is the subject--though it should be remembered that this was an elegant passtime for Charles' court, and that also surviving from it is a manuscript of the world's earliest dirty jokes, and knowledge that Charles had installed the finest hydraulic system Europe had at the time, in his gardens--to blow up the voluminous skirts of the female nobility. It should be noted that this was centuries before underwear came into use. The music is ornate and beautiful, with both well known names such as Binchois and Dufay, and others that have fallen today into disuse. The Gothic Voices, as usual, present it all with a sense of style and technical expertise. Full booklet from the original is included. All transfers are made at 768 kBits/s, directly from the disc. Respectfully suggest you crop your scans before assembling them into pdf form. This will 'embiggen' them so that they are easier to read, and will cut out the needless white space.
