Actually Van Dyke was a guest on a 9th Season show too, the one with Tony Randall.

You guessed correctly. This was the only Dick Van Dyke show put on the large DVD set that came out in 2012. That year Carol and the surviving cast members ( everyone but Harvey Korman and announcer Ernie Anderson that is ) got together for another reunion to talk about old times. I'm guessing they couldn't get a hold of Dick Van Dyke to be part of that, because he's still around.
