In 1990, Rolling Stone magazine readers named the Black Crowes «The best new American band." The Black Crowes took 92 th place in the list of "100 greatest artists of hard rock" music channel VH1. In its first incarnation, this group appeared in 1984 under the name of Mr. Crowes Garden in Atlanta and has been completely turned to the blues-rock of the 1970s. Throughout the career path of a group the main "engine" has always been the brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. In 1989, under the influence of hard Rolling Stones music, the band recorded their first demo tape, which brought them to the music label American Recordings. Before the release of the first album, the composition was as follows: Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitar), Johnny Colt (bass), Jeff Sease (guitar) and Steve Gorman (drums). The Black Crowes released their first studio album, «Shake Your Money Maker», in 1990. The debut was critically acclaimed spectacular, and became a "multi-platinum". A major role in this success played a cover of Otis Redding «Hard To Handle» ballad «She Talks To Angels», got in the first thirty Billboard Hot 100 in 1991, thereby ensuring the album in the top ten. The Black Crowes have multiplied its popularity, having played the opening act on the tour ZZ Top. Then The Black Crowes went on their own tour, performing in autumn 1991 at the Monsters Of Rock Festival in the Soviet Union, along with Pantera, Metallica and AC / DC. After replacing guitarist Jeff Siza Mark Ford, the band released their second album «The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion» in 1992. The album debuted at Billboard 200. Songs «Remedy» and «Thorn In My Pride» Top 100 hit in 1992. Since the piano on the first album playing session Chuck Leavell, the group took keyboardist Eddie Harsch. He was a regular member of the tour «High As The Moon», but then was fired. In 1994 the band released the album "Amorica", which reached "gold" status, selling more than 500 thousand copies. In July 1996, he released the album «Three Snakes & One Charm», after which the band played on Furthur Festival, along with Ratdog, Bruce Hornsby and others. During this period, the group almost completely recorded material for the upcoming album «Band», which never saw the light because of the growing tension in the group. Material from the unreleased album «Tall» and «Band» was later officially released on CD «The Lost Crowes» in 2006. After the failure of the fourth album the group left just two musicians - Marc Ford and Johnny Colt. In their place stood bassist Sven pipe and guitarist Audley Freed. In 1998, The Black Crowes reissued their first four albums in a box set by adding a few extra songs and a live EP. Next LP, «By Your Side», contained several hits such as «Kickin 'My Heart Around» and «Go Faster», but still it was not enough for that to renew interest in the former group. Soon, a group interested in the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who suggested The Black Crowes play with him several joint concerts with the result that has been immortalized on a double album «Live At The Greek». A live album included songs from the holder Led Zeppelin, as well as covers of classic blues. This was followed by the release, titled «Lions», which brought just not much excitement. In the group of all were often conflicts and in 2002. The Black Crowes announced their decay. Vocalist Chris Robinson announced that he starts a solo career, which resulted in two albums - «New Earth Mud» in the 2002's and «This Magnificent Distance» in the 2004th. Both albums were accompanied by tours. A live album, recorded at two concerts in the «Boston Orpheum Theatre», was released in August 2002. In 2004, Rich Robinson assembled a band called Hookah Brown, before releasing a solo album «Paper». In support of «Paper» tour was also organized. Revival of The Black Crowes happened in 2005 when the Robinsons brothers reunited with Mark Ford, Eddie Harsch, Sven Paypenom and Steve Gorman, have again started to give concerts. In the fall of 2006, the band said goodbye to Eddie Harsch and Marc Ford. They were replaced by steel Klors Rob and Paul Stacey, respectively. In August 2007, The Black Crowes predstavilia new keyboard Edam MakDougla, which replaced Klorsa. In addition, the team invited guitarist Luther Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars, to participate in the recording of the album «Warpaint». Dickinson officially served as guitarist, replacing Stacey in November 2007. A live album «Live At The Roxy» (consisting of acoustic setov Robinson brothers) released on July 10, 2007. The album contained old and new hits of The Black Crowes and cover versions of their favorite songs. Drive «Warpaint» was released on March 4, 2008-the year, on his own independent label Silver Arrow Records. «Warpaint» attracted the attention of the press and took the fifth place on the Billboard charts. The album was named the best work of the group since «The Southern Harmony And Musical Companion». The Black Crowes have started an international tour on March 24 with a performance at the East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival in Australia. The Group continued performance of Australia and New Zealand for the first time since 1992, until April 5, before leaving for Europe. The tour began in America in May and ended in December concerts at the concert venue The Fillmore in San Francisco. April 28, 2009 The Black Crowes released a two-disc live album «Warpaint Live». The first disc consists entirely of songs from "Warpaint" album, recorded "live". The second disc contains cover versions. The entire recording was made March 20, 2008, in the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. DVD version «Warpaint Live» was released on June 30, 2009. August 31, 2009 The Black Crowes released their eighth studio album, «Before the Frost ...». The CD was provided with a special daunloud code, the use of which gave the right to receive the second part of the album «... Until the Freeze» through the Internet. In the summer of 2010, it was released a double live release «Croweology», which became the basis of acoustic versions of songs. The album received good reviews in the press.
