In 1990, Rolling Stone magazine readers named the Black Crowes «The best new American band." The Black Crowes took 92 th place in the list of "100 greatest artists of hard rock" music channel VH1. In its first incarnation, this group appeared in 1984 under the name of Mr. Crowes Garden in Atlanta and has been completely turned to the blues-rock of the 1970s. Throughout the career path of a group the main "engine" has always been the brothers Chris and Rich Robinson. In 1989, under the influence of hard Rolling Stones music, the band recorded their first demo tape, which brought them to the music label American Recordings. Before the release of the first album, the composition was as follows: Chris Robinson (vocals), Rich Robinson (guitar), Johnny Colt (bass), Jeff Sease (guitar) and Steve Gorman (drums). The Black Crowes released their first studio album, «Shake Your Money Maker», in 1990. The debut was critically acclaimed spectacular, and became a "multi-platinum". A major role in this success played a cover of Otis Redding «Hard To Handle» ballad «She Talks To Angels», got in the first thirty Billboard Hot 100 in 1991, thereby ensuring the album in the top ten. The Black Crowes have multiplied its popularity, having played the opening act on the tour ZZ Top. Soon, a group interested in the legendary Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who suggested The Black Crowes play with him several joint concerts with the result that has been immortalized on a double album «Live At The Greek». The Black Crowes have started an international tour on March 24 with a performance at the East Coast Blues & Roots Music Festival in Australia. The Group continued performance of Australia and New Zealand for the first time since 1992, until April 5, before leaving for Europe. The tour began in America in May and ended in December concerts at the concert venue The Fillmore in San Francisco. April 28, 2009 The Black Crowes released a two-disc live album «Warpaint Live». The first disc consists entirely of songs from "Warpaint" album, recorded "live". The second disc contains cover versions. The entire recording was made March 20, 2008, in the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. DVD version «Warpaint Live» was released on June 30, 2009. August 31, 2009 The Black Crowes released their eighth studio album, «Before the Frost ...».
