THE BEST OF DRUM'N'BASS 2000-2010 COLLECTION

Our purpose with this collection is to provide one point of view of the songs that defined the past decade of D'n'B. The songs chosen were songs we believe pushed the genre forward (Limewax - Golden Path), tore up dancefloors (Sub Focus - Timewarp), or simply defined everything we were looking for in music (B-Complex - Girl With Flower).

D'n'B is such a great genre because it incorporates so many other styles of music into its framework. No single sub-genre will ever define D'n'B, instead you'll find influences ranging from Jazz, Techno, Metal, Disco and everything in-between. Naturally some sub-genres of D'n'B will get more play by DJs, most notably those that are less experimental and more dancefloor oriented with a prominent two-step beat, but thanks to the open-minded and diverse community you'll still hear a bit of it all at most shows.



Each playlist (or CD) in this collection is named after its mood, influence, or a brief description of its sound. We've done this to avoid any further distancing of these songs that their appointed sub-genre names have given them. We have given thought to the way each playlist is laid out and there are subtle themes throughout a few of these playlists, sometimes based on the sound or sample origins or a record label. The order in which these playlists are numbered is the suggested order for listening for the newcomer to D'n'B or the casual listener. We've started with the most popular songs, the dancefloor songs, as these are the ones that first draw people in; they are catchy and packed with energy. Following that is the Vocal section with songs that we've also found appeal to people outside of D'n'B. If you're an aficionado of the genre then you'll probably find yourself skipping around to playlists that interest you instead.
