Description

The Ascent of Man is a 13-part documentary television series produced by the BBC and Time-Life Films, having been commissioned by Sir David Attenborough.

It was first broadcast in 1973 by BBC2. The series was written and presented by Jacob Bronowski. Bronowski's wiki page

Intended as a series of "personal view" documentaries in the manner of Kenneth Clark's 1969 series Civilization, the series received acclaim for Bronowski's highly informed but eloquently simple analysis, his long unscripted monologues and the extensive location shoots.

The series is widely considered one of the greatest documentary film achievements of all time.
