Just when you thought the Allman Brothers/Widespread Panic tour couldn't get any better, along comes Jack Pearson! The former ABB guitarist added his smooth licks and jazzy style to roughly half of this show--even though he only played on three songs!

This show was cooking even before Jack joined the band, and Widespread Panic singer John Bell was observed enjoying the complete set from the side of the stage. Derek was hittin' the note early and often, starting with a great "Anyday," and Warren did a great job on "44 Blues." Once again, "Rockin' Horse" was a highlight, as this monster jam seems to grow and develop on a nightly basis lately. This version features a full-blown "Little Martha" jam in the middle, with Oteil leading the way!

The heart and soul of this show is definitely the section with Jack Pearson, though. "Dreams" was always one of Jack's best songs when he was a member of the ABB, and his tasteful licks here will show you why. Keyboardist Bruce Katz sat in the whole show and added nicely to this version of Dreams with a very jazzy piano solo.

The show reached another level with "Mountain Jam," which at one point saw Jack, Derek and Warren trading riffs and playing off each other with the kind of telepathic interplay that is the hallmark of the best ABB jams! Simply sublime. After than angelic display, the music turned demonic with a pyrotechnic take on "Whipping Post" that pummelled the crowd into submission.
