TATLI NiGAR AKA Sweet Nigar 1978

Türkan Şoray again plays a nightclub singer/prostitute as only she can, incredibly vulgar and sexy in the first scenes, and she hates all men, having been raped as a 13 year old girl, just after she and her father had immigrated from Priştina to Istanbul (shown as flashback). Bulut Aras (Ahmet) has a similar broken biography, his mother forced him to revenge his father´s death and to shoot his murderer (again flashback) for which he goes for a long period to prison. After his release he flees from the blood feud to a small seaside town where he earns his living cutting and selling reeds. He lives in a hut on a remote island, within a labyrinth of canals. He has never been with a woman before.

One evening, Ahmet enters a nightclub and falls in love with Nigar (Şoray). He spends all his savings on her, takes her out and spends the night talking to her, then proposes. They make love, the next morning Nigar leaves him. The girls from the nightclub are invited to a private party at İskender Bey´s villa (Erol Taş). Nigar makes a big impression on him. Then Ahmet abducts Nigar to his island. She is haunted by her childhood traumas and slashes his ankle with a sickle. Then she leaves him and moves into İskender Bey´s villa. On the night of her engagement to İskener Bey she tells the shocked guests that she won´t marry him. Then she returns to the nightclub and the whisky bottle. Her colleague finds out that Ahmet, out of desperation, intends to return to his hometown, thus risking death in the blood feud. Nigar runs to the train station and tries to stop him from going. The ending needs no explanation.
