Version 1.2.3 (Released 14 January 2015) of TAILS.

Tails is a live system that aims to preserve your privacy and anonymity. It helps you to use the Internet anonymously and circumvent censorship almost anywhere you go and on any computer but leaving no trace unless you ask it to explicitly.

It is a complete operating system designed to be used from a DVD, USB stick, or SD card independently of the computer's original operating system. It is Free Software and based on Debian GNU/Linux.

Tails comes with several built-in applications pre-configured with security in mind: web browser, instant messaging client, email client, office suite, image and sound editor, etc.

Security fixes

• Upgrade to Linux 3.16.7-ckt2-1.
  
• Upgrade to Tor Browser 4.0.3 (based on Firefox 31.4.0esr).
  
• Improve MAC spoofing fail-safe mechanisms, which includes preventing one more way the MAC address could be leaked.
  
• Disable upgrade checking in the Unsafe Browser. Until now the Unsafe Browser has checked for upgrades of the Tor Browser in the clear.
  

Bugfixes

• Fix startup of the Unsafe Browser in some locales.
  
• Repair the desktop screenshot feature.
  
• Do not suspend to RAM when closing the lid on battery power.
  
• Properly update the Tails Installer's status when plugging in a USB drive after it has started.
