I really like this fellow.

Born (1873), took sannyas (1899), and died (at the age of 33) on Deepawali.

His mother died shortly after his birth. He got his Masters in Mathematics, and was a university teacher. Then he saw Swami Vivekananda in 1897, after Vivekananda had done his world tour. This inspired Rama Tirtha to dedicate his life to spirituality and to take sannyas (in 1899). He went to America in 1902 -- 18 years before Yogananda. He lectured on Hinduism in America for two years before returning to India. In 1906, he retired from public life and moved to Terhi in the foothills of the Himalayas.



His view was was Advaita Vedanta, universal and tolerant. He was a clear-headed man, with no fear of science.
