Summary



Following up on their successful 2007 season, the Storm Chasers returned with new vehicles, new teams and new tactics. The 2008 tornado season nearly set a record for tornado outbreaks and our determined band of chasers pulled out all the stops to break their own records for intercepts. Sure there were challenges, but with double the number of chase vehicles -- and much more mobility and range -- the Storm Chasers got the job done like never before.



The 2008 season featured fierce -- but mostly friendly -- competition for the most tornado encounters that developed early in the season, as the newest chaser, Reed Timmer pitted his light and loose style of chasing against the heavyweight, methodical approach of Dr. Josh Wurman and his team. Plus, the baddest chase machine around, the 8-tonned, 10-wheeled TIV2, made its debut as extreme filmmaker Sean Casey continued his quest for the ultimate IMAX intercept footage. And best of all, there's a front-row seat to some of the most awesome tornadoes ever captured in HD.
