TRAMA:

Storia d'inverno è la trasposizione cinematografica dell'omonimo romanzo di Mark Helprin. Il film racconta una romantica storia d'amore in cui i destini dei protagonisti s'incrociano, tra passato e presente, sullo sfondo della New York del 1916 e di quella dei giorni nostri. Tutto ha inizio quanto Peter Lake, ladro di professione, durante un tentativo di rapina in una villa, si imbatte nella bellissima Beverly Penn, figlia del ricco proprietario dell'abitazione. Per entrambi è un colpo di fulmine, ma Beverly è afflitta da una malattia incurabile e come se ciò non bastasse, a contrastare il loro amore ci si mette anche un pericoloso gangster che ha un conto in sospeso con Peter ed è deciso a liberarsi di lui una volta per tutte.

STORYLINE:

New York City is subsumed in arctic winds, dark nights, and white lights, its life unfolds, for it is an extraordinary hive of the imagination, the greatest house ever built, and nothing exists that can check its vitality. One night in winter, Peter Lake (Colin Farrell), orphan and master-mechanic, attempts to rob a fortress-like mansion on the Upper West Side. Though he thinks the house is empty, the daughter of the house is home. Thus begins the love between Peter, a middle-aged Irish burglar, and Beverly Penn (Jessica Brown Findlay), a young girl, who is dying.
