Steven J. "Steve" Morse (born 28 July 1954) is an American guitarist, and leader of the Steve Morse Band. For those of you not aware of him or his band, the music is all instrumental, and is rock flavored with a lot of variety, from blues, country, bluegrass, Celtic, classical, to jazz, and some folk influences, falling under what might be defined as the “fusion” genre.
In addition to a thriving solo career, Steve Morse enjoyed a brief stint with Kansas in the mid 80s, and has been the lead guitarist for Deep Purple since 1994.
Morse is known for his stylistically diverse compositional skills and virtuosic abilities, and was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" by Guitar Player magazine for five years in a row, qualifying him for their "Guitar Player Hall of Fame", and has proven himself throughout his career as capable of playing highly complex chord structures in classical sequences, as well as being able to play fast, alternate picked arpeggios, using harmonics and improvising them in songs during live performances.
Split Decision is a studio recording released by the Steve Morse Band in 2002.
