STEP UP TO THE PLATE - BBC

Step Up To the Plate is a cookery contest in which teams of 3 amateur cooks compete against two of the UK's top professional chefs to try and win a cash prize. Reputations of some of Britain's top restaurateurs will be laid on the chopping board as each trio of passionate amateurs tries to come up with the perfect menu of starter, main course and dessert with which to outwit the pros.

The amateur cooks will know which 3 dishes they're going to produce and will have been practicing for months. The chefs only find out what's on the menu once the cameras are rolling. Both teams have just half an hour to deliver the same menu before the acid test of their skills - the blind tasting by our Food Critic, Lloyd Grossman.

Lloyd will not know which dish is which when he delivers his verdict, but we the audience will. He won't mince his words, but will he mince a few reputations or will the professionals keep their reputations intact?
