Description

Stargate Atlantis S3E1 "No Man´s Land"

Having tricked the humans of Atlantis into revealing the location of Earth, the two Wraith hive ships immediately set course for this rich new feeding ground, carrying Dr. McKay and Ronon with them as prisoners. Although they don't know it, they've also got a third human passenger: John Sheppard has managed to piggyback his small F-302 fighter onto the underbelly of the first hive ship.

Back in Atlantis, Dr. Weir realizes that just one chance remains to stop the Wraith from reaching Earth. After the first stage of their intergalactic journey, the two hive ships will have to drop out of hyperspace briefly at a desolate site just outside the Pegasus galaxy. Weir orders Col. Caldwell to lead the Daedalus and the ancient Atlantean warship Orion to a dangerous deep-space ambush at that location.

Stargate Atlantis S3E2 "Misbegotten"

Sheppard, McKay, Ronon and Caldwell return to Atlantis in triumph aboard their captured Wraith hive ship. Dr. Weir is on her way back from Earth as well, accompanied by the chief liaison to the International Oversight Advisory, Richard Woolsey, who is writing a report on Weir's suitability to command the expedition. His nagging questions and bureaucratic attitude are an annoyance as the Atlantis team struggles to decide the fate of the two hundred Wraith that they captured along with the hive.

Technically, these Wraith are not Wraith anymore. Dr. Beckett's weaponized retrovirus has stripped away both their memories and their alien genetic aspects, leaving only their human characteristics behind. Unfortunately, the effects of the retrovirus are temporary; if the former Wraith don't receive a new dose every day, they'll revert to their murderous former selves.

Stargate Atlantis S3E3 "Irresistible"

Sheppard, Teyla, McKay and Ronon arrive at a village led by a jovial baker named Lucius Luvin, who shows off his six wives while urging the team to trade their ship for a few local herbs. Unimpressed with his preposterous offer, the team soon departs. In case Lucius's herbs are actually of medicinal value, however, Dr. Beckett visits the village to investigate.

After a long delay, Beckett returns to Atlantis — with Lucius. Because the Ancient city's safety depends on its secret existence, Weir is appalled at the doctor's thoughtless breach of security, but Beckett insists that Lucius is worth it. Despite her concern that Beckett is acting less like his usual rational self and more like a fawning schoolboy, Weir agrees to meet with the baker. But later, when Sheppard and McKay return from another mission, they find Weir, Teyla, Ronon and the rest of Atlantis's personnel obeying Lucius's every command with besotted obedience. Although they can't guess how or why he's doing it, Sheppard and McKay realize that, clearly, Lucius is controlling people's minds.

Stargate Atlantis S3E4 "Sateda"

Ronon falls into a nightmare from his past when he, Sheppard, Teyla and McKay visit a village where his face is remembered all too well. Several years ago, when the Wraith had implanted him with a tracking chip and were hunting him for pleasure, Ronon sought shelter in this village. The locals cared for him until his presence brought the Wraith down upon them. He fled, but the Wraith decimated the village; now the survivors want revenge.

The villagers attack the team. Only McKay escapes through the stargate, limping badly from an arrow wound. The villagers capture Ronon, Sheppard and Teyla. Hoping to appease the Wraith, they decide to give Ronon to the murderous aliens as a gift. Ronon grimly convinces the villagers to let his friends go, on the condition that he willingly accepts this fate. Set free, Sheppard and Teyla race back to Atlantis, grab weapons and reinforcements, and return to the planet within the hour, but they're already too late: the village is a smoking ruin, and Ronon is gone. The Wraith have reclaimed their favorite plaything.

Stargate Atlantis S3E5 "Progeny"

At first, Sheppard's team is thrilled to discover a vast, highly technological city called Asuras, full of people who claim to be Ancients. Weir eagerly opens negotiations with the Asuran High Council, but the city's leader, Oberoth, arrogantly refuses to initiate trade and flatly denies the humans any help in their war with the Wraith. Even after he grudgingly concludes that his primitive guests may possess worthwhile knowledge, he still doesn't negotiate with them — he just locks them up.

A second Asuran, Niam, treats Weir, Sheppard, McKay, Ronon and Teyla more kindly, but he can't stop Oberoth from cruelly probing their minds through induced hallucinations. Sheppard, Weir and McKay have only encountered one other enemy that probes minds in this way: the Replicators, lethal machines who plagued SG-1 for years. The team guesses that they're now in the hands of similar beings.
