As announced, here is my version of Star Trek's "Is There In Truth No Beauty?", the tv rip from the remastered episode shown on CBS last month. It is somewhat better in quality than the version uploaded two weeks ago here on thepiratebay. It's your choice!

THE ENHANCEMENTS

A new class M planet at the beginning, some rather ambitious perspectives on the Enterprise in orbit, then some spectacular high speed views of the starship getting out of control, and a new version of the area in which the Enterprise is drifting after leaving the edge of the galaxy, this time with mainly blueish colors rather reddish, as in the original. I like them both, so you have to decide yourself which one is better.

At the very end, we get a very special bonus: as Jeff Bond remarked in his review on trekmovie, it is looks like "a scout ship or warp courier vessel, somewhat like a compacted, small version of the Daedelus class we've seen just as a model in Sisko's quarters on Deep Space Nine". The final pulling away of the Enterprise from the scout vessel is executed rather ambituously, including some backlighting from a nearby sun!

ASSORTED COMMENTS

The script is one of the better ones from season three, written by Jean Lisette Aroeste from her own story. Fred Freiberger, the producer, was very enthusiastic about it: "We did a lot of morality shows, and I thought this was a hell of an example of one. The basic concept is that on the outside what is reputed to be ugly and horrible, is really something lovely and beautiful. Hopefully it will teach the viewer to be more tolerant." Well said, and a timeless sentiment!

J. L. Aroeste's story outline featured Dr. Miranda Jones, described as a professional telepath taking part in the first collaboration between humands and Medusans, a project codenamed ARIEL. Larry Marvick was honest in expressing his dislike of the Medusan; he conveyed his sentiments directly to Miranda. After Marvick's exposure to the Medusan, he invaded the bridge, killed two crewmen, wrecked the communications console, and accelerated the Enterprise out of our universe and into the void. Dr. Jones and the Medusan had previously "discussed" the theoretics of navigating in interdimensional voids, which led Mr. Spock to mind-meld with the Medusan. The meld took hours to complete; Spock's complext entanglement with the alien was cancelled out by Miranda's guiding the Vulcan through a mental re-creation of his fight with Captain Kirk seen in "Amok Time".

Guest star Diana Muldaur also appeared in season two ("Return to Tomorrow") as Dr. Ann Mulhall and would later reappear in season two of "The Next Generation", starring as Dr. Pulaski.

This again is a well-rounded collaboration between Ralph Senensky (direction) and George Duning (music), who both added some really sensitive stuff to a memorable tale, as they did before in "Metamorphosis" and "Return to Tomorrow" in season two.

Okay, then, that's all for today, except to remind you to keep seeding after download, or I'll send one of my friends to you, who will appear at your window. Oh yes, I forgot to say, he is a Medusan! :-(

Next:

First, the remaining "March" episode, and then last week's new CBS broadcast:

- "Elaan of Troyius" (again a new and better version)

- "The Enterprise Incident" (which also was uploaded by dro316 in the meantime - my version again will be the superior one!)

All right, people, take care, and

LIVE LONG AND PROSPER!!!

Best regards,

Captain Soundtrekker
