Spirit Rhythms: Sacred Drumming & Chants from Cuba compiles performances of Santeria trance music, most commonly heard in conjunction with Afro-Cuban rituals designed to evoke spirits who descend and assume control of the bodies of devotees. Highlighted by master bata drummer Orlando "Puntilla" Rios, the performances are powerfully rhythmic as well as deeply spiritual.
