COSMOSM

SOLIDWORKS 2015 is the last release to support COSMOSM. After the release of SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP5, COSMOSM will no longer be enhanced or supported.

Retired Functionality

As of SOLIDWORKS 2015, you cannot save a model as Universal 3D file format. The File > Save as type Universal 3D (*.u3d) is removed.

ScanTo3D

Direct integration between ScanTo3D and NextEngine scanning software (ScanStudio) is no longer included in SOLIDWORKS 2015 SP3 and future releases. The NextEngine file types nzip, nxm, and scn can no longer be opened and Tools > ScanTo3D has been removed. Alternatively, NextEngine scanner users can generate scan files in other scan file formats and import them into SOLIDWORKS.


Installation

Installation DVDs

SOLIDWORKS 2015 is distributed on two DVDs. The Installation Manager will prompt you to insert SOLIDWORKS Disk #2, if needed.

Antivirus Software

Some antivirus software prevents proper installation of SOLIDWORKS.

Tools Menu

Add-Ins

Add-ins accessed from the Menu Bar in previous versions of SOLIDWORKS are now accessed from the Tools menu. The following add-ins are affected:
CircuitWorks
Routing
SOLIDWORKS Plastics
Toolbox
Third-party add-ins accessed from the Menu Bar in previous versions of SOLIDWORKS are also now accessed from the Tools menu. Additionally, any new third-party add-in that attempts to create a menu on the Menu Bar will now appear on the Tools menu.

Products moved to the Tools > Xpress Products menu include:
